Bizarre Detective Agency: Chapter 727 18. Wanderers Tavern

   Chapter 727 Eighteen. Wanderer Tavern

"You better not eat these things, they are so polluted that only people who have no money will eat them."

After   Katerina finished speaking, she lowered her voice and asked again: "Are you really... eh?"

She didn't say that word, worried that it would be heard by the ears in the tavern.

"Ask a question repeatedly doesn't change the answer."

Lu Li almost knows what pure human beings mean: high humanity and high sanity.

There may also be genetic problems, but in the mysterious side world, the proportion of science is insignificant.

Lu Li's words strengthened Katarina's confidence, and she threw the shabby bag she was carrying on the table, making a sound like rocks colliding.

The tavern owner behind the counter walked over, and Katarina ripped off the bag, revealing the dull fluorite mine inside.

"How much are these fluorite mines worth?"

"You went to the mine? Are those mango ghosts still there?" The middle-aged boss with thick dark circles rolled his eyes, and his curved back made him look dark and difficult to touch. "Eight shillings."

"News has to be bought with money, and there are too few." Katarina is not a rookie hunter, so she just sent the news out.

The middle-aged boss bowed his head, dug out his right eyeball and placed it on the wooden table. Four slender and flexible limbs stretched from the bottom of the eyeballs, holding the eyeballs and crawling to the side of the baggage to observe in circles.

"11 shillings, with news. No more, it's not going to sell at all."

He said, grabbed the eyeball that he wanted to escape, stuffed it back into the socket strangely, and turned the eyeball of the opposite eye back to normal.

"make a deal."

Katarina took out the still warm shillings from the leather armor on her chest, and found 20 shillings for him: "Give me some brown bread."

"Brown bread? That stuff is expensive and can't fill your stomach." The middle-aged boss turned to look at Lu Li, as if he was about to cut his flesh and whisper, "A raw face that has never appeared in town..."

"He's... my cousin, don't try to beat him." Katarina threatened, pinching her left eye, ready to pull out the congener at any time.

The middle-aged boss ignored Katerina's threat, and gave Lu Li a grim smile: "Your hair color is different."

"So it's cousin." Lu Li looked at each other calmly.

"Stinger, you're too nervous." The middle-aged boss grinned, no longer bothered about his hair color, and turned back to the counter.

"He's Old Pete, the tavern owner. We all call him Hyena, because he's as sharp and cunning as a hyena." After Old Pete left, Katerina whispered, staring at his back. "If we want to inquire about the news, we must not be known by him."

"Why don't you change to another tavern?" Lu Li asked.

"Because other taverns are not open to hunters like me." Katarina's tone was not down or other emotions, just stating the facts.

Hunter is not as glamorous as its title, although many hunters can be compared to the legendary exorcist in fame, and can even be treated with respect by the church, power, and nobles, but it has nothing to do with most hunters.

Most hunters are better known as: scavengers.

They are the bottom of the human world, wandering around town every day to survive. The only luxury time in your life is the moment you sell yourself.

   Then go to die.

Katarina wasn't like that, but it wasn't much better.

"I know a reliable hunter who comes to the Wanderer Tavern every two hours." Katarina looked at the door of the tavern: "He's coming soon."

Two minutes later, the hyena old Pete brought brown bread and change, and gave Lu Li a deep look, especially the sackcloth and coat that had been pierced and obviously pulled from the dead.

   But he didn't try again.

The hard, cold black bread is difficult to cut even with a knife, and its uneven black surface resembles dead tree bark. Bad taste, expensive, no good other than being more "cleaner".

As a contrast, the plate on the next table was filled with steaming hot meat that even the chaotic tavern could not hide. But Katerina told Lu Li, "You don't want to know what kind of meat it is."

   Maybe human, maybe weird.

Lu Li asked for a cup of boiling water, and barely ate it with soft brown bread. Black bread mixed with sawdust provides a lot of satiety, at least no longer hungry.

"I want to take a bath and change clothes." Lu Li looked at Katerina.

   "That's too extravagant."

Katarina said so, but she still asked for a room and a bucket of hot water for Lu Li, and they were not as expensive as brown bread.

   "Need some fun, Mr. Cousin."

Old Pete was lying on the counter, and when Lu Li walked to the stairs, he said, "Three-legged, four-legged, dwarf, or if you put forward conditions, it will only be a little more expensive."

"No need." Katerina replied for Lu Li. "The mole is here and let him go to the room to find us."

stepped on the old wooden ladder to the dark second floor of the tavern. The corridor echoed with high-pitched voices from an unknown room. Before entering the room, an exposed woman in a veil walked out from the next room.

A woman has two slender legs like spider arthropods growing in the lower abdomen, the length is similar to the forearm, and can be stretched and lifted. He threw a wink at Lu Li when he passed by, and walked downstairs with the smell of cheap and pungent perfume.

Entering the room, there is only one single bed in the small and dim space. The fluorite in the lampshade glowed faintly.

Lu Li walked to the window and looked out.

The sky has not changed, and the lava ring of fire is still dripping down.

Katarina held the fluorite and carefully checked the floor, wall and ceiling for gaps and eavesdroppers.

Ten minutes later, a wooden bucket filled with hot water was brought into the room, Katerina paid the room and water money, and locked the door.

"Your currency or shilling?" Lu Li left the window.

"Hmm. Your currency back then, right?" Katarina hid the remaining shillings in her chest. "Maybe because they can't make it, or because they miss the old life, people still use shillings, and some places use weird currency and gold."

The    weird currency reminded Lu Li of something, he took out the polygonal matte stone in his pocket that was given by existence in the fog.

"Is that it?"

Katerina observed for a while, shook her head and said, "I've never seen a weird currency... If it is, it's worth a lot of shillings, but I don't recommend you change it."

Weird currencies are worth much more than shillings, and almost no one wants to exchange them for shillings.

The bucket was filled with mist, and Lu Li began to take off his clothes.

Katarina did not intend to leave. She was sitting beside the bed, even carefully observing Lu Li's body to check for deformed organs.

When only his shorts were left, Lu Li stopped, with Doomsday Apocalypse chess pieces in his pocket, and stepped into the barrel.

Hot water relaxes pores and washes away tiredness.

Lu Li took a deep breath and sank into the water, his black hair fluttering like seaweed.
